Birth to 3 Program

The Birth to 3 Program is a form of early intervention for children between birth and school age who are or may be at risk of having a special need. Medical Support Services, Inc. provides developmental therapies and supportive services to children through the Birth to 3 Program.

What services are available?
Medical Support Services, Inc. provides a team of highly trained pediatric
therapists which includes; licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech pathologists. The team evaluates the child in all areas of development including gross motor, fine motor, social skills, cognitive skills, and communication. If the child shows a need for special services , a Racine County service coordinator, together with the family, develops a plan for intervention. The team at Medical Support Services carries out that plan. The therapists travel to the child’s home or day care to work with the child and train the family or caregivers in ways to promote the child’s development. In addition some children come to Medical Support Services treatment center for small group programs or to use the facility’s specialized equipment. Medical Support Services also provides a family coordinator who can help the family with resources beyond the therapy intervention.

The earlier a child’s developmental delays are discovered, the better the chances are that the child will be able to increase their capabilities and independence.
What happens when the child turns three?
When a child turns three years old he or she is no longer eligible for a Birth to
Three program. At age three services are available through the schools . Because Medical Support Services is a full service pediatric treatment center therapy services may continue without disruption when the child turns three.
